The relation of the two blastomeres to the polar lobe in

چکیده

Experiments on the influence of the polar lobe on the development of molluscs have shown that after removal of the polar lobe cleavage is radially symmetrical and indications of bilateral symmetry do not appear (Wilson, 1904: Dentalium; Clement, 1952: Ilyanassa). In normal development the polar lobe fuses with one of the two cells of the trefoil stage, and this cell becomes the posterior side of the embryo. The question now arises whether the polar lobe fuses in an arbitrary way with one of the blastomeres at first cleavage, which then becomes the CD cell. Another possibility is that one of the two blastomeres at the trefoil stage is already predetermined to become the CD cell, with which the polar lobe always fuses. In the first case dorsoventrality is determined epigenetically; in the second case it is preformed. Morgan (1936) tried to solve this question by removing one of the blastomeres at the trefoil stage in Ilyanassa. Unfortunately, the other blastomere nearly always cytolysed. Only six eggs out of several hundreds survived. In four eggs the polar lobe fused with the remaining cell; in two it did not. Eggs of Dentalium appeared to be suitable material for this kind of experiment, as they hardly ever cytolyse. An attempt was therefore made to solve this problem by using eggs of Dentalium.

The development of isolated blastomeres in Bithynia tentaculata (Prosobranchia, Gastropoda).

The development of isolated blastomeres, separated at the first and second cleavage has been studied. After separation at the first cleavage, one half-embryo (CD) becomes swollen and balloon-like and develops adult organs such as eyes, tentacles, shell, operculum, etc. The other half (AB) is much more compact and never develops these adult structures. After separation on the alternate axis at t...

Characterizing sub-topical functions

In this paper, we first give a characterization of sub-topical functions with respect to their lower level sets and epigraph. Next, by using two different classes of elementary functions, we present a characterization of sub-topical functions with respect to their polar functions, and investigate the relation between polar functions and support sets of this class of functions. Finally, we obtai...

Precocious Diagnosis of Traumatic Splenic Rupture by Selective Coeliac Angiography

Splenic arteriography allows the organ to be clearly demonstrated and the condition of the parenchyrna to be assessed. The methode allows traumatic lesions to be easily diagnosed. The most common reliable signs are escape of contrast medium from the torn spenic arteries and lacunar appearance in the parenchyma. Other signs, such as early venous filling or antero-posterior and median displacemen...

Stereological estimation and morphological assessment of the endocrine pancreatic components in relation to sex in hen

In pancreatic survey, quantitative and morphological characteristics could be fundamental variables for the evaluation of some structures. The aim of this study was the application of stereological methods for estimation of quantitative parameters and morphological evaluation of the pancreas in chickens. Ten adult male and ten adult female native chickens were used in this study. Routine tissue...
